Iron on heat shrink iron on covering

I have a plane that is covered in heat shrinking iron on covering, and parts of it are bubleing a little bit. The instructions said to buy a special heat shrinking material, but i don't have one. Can i use a regular iron and either turn the temp up or down? Please help!

heat shrink

any iron will do, i use a small travelling iron for all my covering

slowly increase the heat untill you get the bubbles to go

my iron has settings for types of clothes

with it set on nylon it will tack the film down with very little shrinkage
half way between nylon and wool the covering shrinks a little
and with it just over wool it shrinks a lot

but if i go a little further past wool it starts to make the film look white (damaged)

make sure the under side of the iron is very smooth too or you may mark the wood under the film

all the best kev

ps here's one i did a couple of weeks ago
