I grabbed the screenshot from this Amazon page :
https://www.amazon.com/FlySky-FS-i6-...697163&sr=8-33

If you are used to flying with the throttle on the left stick on your transmitters , then be sure to order a "mode 2" transmitter .

Yes , the electronics from Value Hobby will work with a FlySky FSi6 transmitter .

For the most peace of mind : If there is a way to contact the Amazon seller and make sure that the transmitter is mode 2 , then I would do that .

The identical Turnigy i6 I linked in post #29 is definitely mode 2 , it says so clearly on the page :

Be careful about anything from Valuehobby.

If you have a problem you are going to have to eat it. I am still waiting on return authorization now for almost 3 years for a $300 item. Even the Chinese are better than them when it comes to returns.

Just doing my share in spreading the joy about VH.

Check out the words under my handle.

When you look at a transmitter go with a 6 channel. Be sure to check out the price of their receivers. Some brands suck you in with decent priced transmitter and roll you with high priced receivers. I have a big investment in flysky equipment and generally found it to be a good value. A basic airplane can have two aileron, servos a motor channel, elevator and rudder.

What basic said. I was going to comment on that as well. While I used a single aileron servo on my earlier planes (4 channels: aileron, elevator, throttle, rudder) as I got building larger planes, the logistics of connecting the fuse mounted (or center of wing mounted) ail servo got increasingly complicated. It quickly got easier to just use a servo on each wing. I could have used a wye and tied the the two into the ail channel, but learned about adverse yaw which could resolve by programming aileron differential into the two ail channels. ( so 5 channels used: ail, ele, the, rud, ail). Yes, I could have achieved some differential mechanically, but it was more "fun" doing it with mixes in the TX. Said all that to support purchase of the 6 ch FS-i6.

If you're learning to fly, get a simulator! Then you can practice all winter and be ready for 'real' flying come spring!

Regarding choice of transmitter I'm super happy with a Walkera Devo 10 flashed with DeviationTX. Dsm2/x compatible, fully programmable and cheap.
