30C or 50C batteries for a 60A ESC in an Eflite Carbon Cub Z SS 2.1m

I have a new Eflite Carbon Cub Z SS 2.1m BNF which comes with a 60A ESC. I want to know if it would be better to purchase a 30C batery or a 50C battery. What would be the differences / limitations?

Considering the size of your airplane, I suppose you will need at least 4-5.000 mAh battery. At this size, 30C should be enough (you will have between 120 and 150A - in theory). However, bigger is better, right?

You may also need to consider weight, in particular with reference to CoG, and size.
Also, it may or may not be important to you, but I believe a higher C rate might also mean you can charge at a higher rate, thus charge quicker. Check out before purchasing.

A C rating is a multiplier of the battery capacity meaning it can provide the C rating times the capacity in short bursts. So, a 30C 5000ma battery can supply 150 Amps of current to the ESC in short bursts. You need to keep in mind that almost all C ratings are pie-in-the-sky theoretical values and the actual amount of burst current is always less than what the label implies. Battery life is partially a factor on how much current is pulled from the battery over time so lower demands usually equates to longer life. Pulling 60 Amps from a 5000ma battery is only a 12C demand.

C rating is marketing for most battery companies.
