Wow, why do some people insist “their” way is the only way. What if you meet someone local and take cash, then you should have quietly added the 3% there too? My point is sometimes people do things that may not be your way. I don’t get upset when someone does it either way, lighten up people

I’ll also add that I don’t ask or add for the fee in any of my sales, and I don’t mind paying it when the seller asks. It’s 3%, and if that bothers me then I probably shouldn’t be in this hobby lol, but that is my opinion

Exactly my point! So “automatically add 3% in the asking price” doesn’t always make sense does it

3 out of 10 (or so), so about 30%. Again, try to remember any specific persons experience is not the rule, not everyone is the same

most exalted one
A deal is a deal. I do not pay tax (here, I may pay when receiving the item)on here and I do not pay fees unless agreed to as the deal. Surprise after the so-called deal, I walk away.
Trust is broken at that point.

Paypals policy clearly states that the seller cannot ask a buyer to pay his fee's When they do, you can report them to Paypal. I have reported several people. The fee is the SELLERS fee and too many idiots can't figure this out.

I just ignore and move on as I'm not usually shopping for rare or discontinued items and it feels kind of Tightwaddy about the price not being the price and we are starting off on the wrong foot.

It must be a psychological thing like glass half empty because I have no problem with sellers that have local cash discount vs their paypal price.

I look at paypal as a convenienve to me as the Buyer. I am “purchasing” insurance on the transaction that paypal is offering by using the “good and services” option, otherwise i would have to find time to go to a post office/bank for a money order or cashiers check and then mail it to the seller. Potentially wait 7-21 days for it to “clear” and then wonder if im still ever going to get what i purchased due to them being a scammer or not.

That said, when i sell something i include the Paypal fee into the price AND when i purchase something, i add an additional 3% into what i send based on the agree’d upon price for the paypal fee if it wasnt explicity already said to be included in the negotiated deal... bc we are all modelers and a couple of $$ isnt that big deal to me.
