So i can't remember do you fly with TV on permanently or on a switch? Tailerons? Are you able to deactivate Tailerons? What's your favourite config? Hey I'm still back on page 260 working through has anybody mentioned that these replacement 23g servos might have been a bad batch maybe or rushed to production due to the mig? I mean I still can't find a specs or buy them separately and they don't seem to be in any other jets whats up with that? Has anybody nailed the reason for these things going down? How's the poll going? questions |

I have a 12ch receiver and everything more or less separate except for rudders. I bought an expander to do 15 but it was bad. I have TV on a switch but leave it on all the time. I have tailerons that activate when I retract the gear. I also have crow on my right slider, flaps are on my left slider. Before I put the TVs on I also had rudder airbrakes and if I don't sell it I'll find a good expander so I can put the rudder air brakes bake on.
Favorite config I guess is tailerons plus TV since they are basically always on. I personally think the tail is designed wrong but that combined with a too heavy suggested CG is the main reason. I feel the stronger servos and linkage is a bandaide for a poor design. It didn't help that they put in three places to place batteries and that people don't fully read instructions. Same with the original elevator servo arms, the instructions said middle horn and many put the pushrod in the outer horn basically causing the already weak for the application servo to work 25% harder. |

Like any good disaster it sounds like a combination of things I must say I think it was Henrik about 200 pages bach gave a list of about 20 things that maybe need isn't the right word but should be done and I had a little chuckle to myself cos they were all valid but thought it's starting to sound like the list of upgrades for an LX model LOL c'mon freewing this is not on! |

My list of what I did is long too but I didn't mention them as they aren't directly related to (though may help with) the stab issue. Many I do on a lot of planes like bypassing the MCBe for most functions ( I usually leave retracts and lights on it).
When I built my MiG I did a lot of my usual mods, changing extensions for shorter proper length ones, moved the receiver and BEC to the back of the battery area, put stronger pushrods on the stabs, put the stab, aileron and flap pushrods in a hole on the horn for better mechanical advantage (this was with the older original servos) and as I said bypassed most of the MCBe. I also built mine originally with tailerons, crow and rudder air brakes. I did more than a few flights that way until FW/ Motion sent out the first replacement servos. When I got them I did a torque test using the original, replacement, some really nice Turnigy and the Corona that Jandro uses a lot of. I ended up using, and still have in mine, the Corona. I do what I do to reduce risk I perceive in each aircraft. I don't do a few things many others do such as separate BECs or other radio system power. I don't use any chokes which at least one person has been very vocal about. In fact if the ESC comes with a ferrite ring many times I'll remove it. Bottom line is we all have different wants out of our planes and different opinions on what needs to be changed for what ever reason. A long time ago I was told that my flying wasn't as good as theirs since I don't video. That unless I showed proof, what I claim isn't valid. That person has been repeatedly banned under a couple user names but there are others that say if you can't show proof it doesn't happen. Ahh, good example, when the F-14 came out I said it flat spins great, more than one person said it can't and I was making it up. I did finally get someone to do a short cell phone video so people would believe me. That's not to say that videos aren't cool, especially Jandro's father and the person doing the FPV footage, very cool... Just not what I'm into. |

That's why I'm going to try keep this jet as light as I can no afterburners as good as they look, no gyro, already got the added weight the TV and 25a bec plus you guys have convinced me to start at 15mm behind the recommended cg and I'm in the process of moving the receiver back in the rear bay to remove a few wires, no giant servos for the ffs just corona ds238mg's and 22awg wires because let's face it even if you do put killer servos in its likely in the event you do get some flex back there it could just make things worse.

Sounds like a good plan.

If you're handy with a soldering iron and Arduino, and use Spektrum:

D2 is thr, 3 ele, 4 rud... to D13 which would be X+2 (or Aux7 or ch12 depending on how you think about it).
I need at least 2 more, preferably 3. Can it be programed that way? I would probably use Spektrum AR9020 9ch with SRXL2 and that would give me Tho to Aux4. And would want Aux5, X+1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 through the expander. |
