New to electric flight

Hi, I’ve been flying for about 20 years mostly sport and a little pattern. Just bought an Fms Olympus which is my first electric plane. Could sure use some recommendations on the point of balance and control surface movement for the ailerons and elevator. Fms instruction manual is a bit vague and I would appreciate any suggestions for dual rate specs.

Welcome to the forum. I did a google search found PDF link to the manual on HH website should have that information. I usually follow the manual unless you wanted to know what others are flying their CG at sometimes find it needs to be changed

Thanks for the information Kell. I tried the 185mm as suggested by the Fms manual and my Olympus seems to fly tail heavy. I saw that some flyers varied between 150 and 170. I’ll try some battery forward to see if there is improvement. Thanks again

CG per manual is seldom perfect, need to move battery pack and adjust elevator trim as needed for level flight at 1/2 throttle. Any model will climb at full throttle and descend at 1/4 throttle when CG and elevator trim is correct for that particular model. Model should hang nose down with finger tips placed per manual.

Thanks, I moved the battery to get a slight nose down balance at 165 mm. Tried two flights at 1/2 to 2/3 throttle. Upright and inverted got level flight. No more tail heavy symptoms.

I guess I would say the manual is a start I usually try to stay little nose heavy for first flight easier to land then tail heavy. Then I move the CG and just re-trim the elevator again.
