Balsa USA 1/4 Scale Cub

About mid March or early April I bought the Balsa USA 1/4 scale J-3 Piper Cub kit. I didn't even realize it even existed but I learned about a medical modification made by the US Navy in WW2 for service in the Pacific as an air ambulance. I'm trying to decide if I want to put the stars on the wings or the medical decals. I haven't been able to find very much documentation of the stars on the wings so I don't know how authentic that was. Does anyone have any info on the authenticity of the stars?

Not a lot of info on it. Maybe this will help. Most of the scale models depict the stars on the wings and the cross on the fuselage sides. The flat black anti-glare paint extends from the windshield forward across the top of the cowl.
