F-104

Hi, there.

Very interesting project. I have an A4 from Jepe or order with a similar fan to be run on 15 cells.

What is the overall dimensions and estimated weight on the thing?

Where do you live (hvor bor du)?

Hi again
The F-104 has a length of ca 59 in(150cm),a wing span of
ca 34 in(88cm)this is somewhat off scale to give more lift.
if i was to have scale wingspan it would have been about
23 in(60cm).i would have needed a very strong bungee
to get it to flying speed. The weight of the plane will be in the region of 88oz(2500grm)with 20 cp2400.
And Sture ,i live in Brumunddal about 150 km north of Oslo.

Hi Terje,

the bungee does not have to be so strong than expected. I decreased the bungee-power the first 10 starts. When you swith on the motor before you launch, it is even less power needed...

What about your surface ?
Are you satisied with it ?

Greetings

Stefan

Yes im going to the jet meet,i talked to P-G-Stroemmen
i believe he runs the meeting, and all he has seen of
EDF is the Kyosho T33 with stock setup.he was not impressed
he said,so i guess i have to show up and fly my Mig 15
and Starfighter

Stefan
im very satisfied with the kit as the surfaces is close to finished
I`m very allergic to balsa dust (hospitalised once)so im after kits as finished as possible.prefferably all molded kits.

Looks great Terje! I'm planning to attend Starmoen aswell, hope to see it there. I'll probably bring my 480MF fleet and possibly a Schubi project. I'll have the Schubi in hand very soon just need a model to put it in...

This airplane cries out for Leading Edge flaps. They boost the maximum lift by a good 20 or 30% for landing and take-off. That is why the real one had them. They don't need to have a shaped gap, like a slat, just a simple hinged flap would work. I tried them on a test bed a few years back and they worked well. You can lift the nose several degrees more before it stalls. This helps slow you down because of the extra lift and the extra drag.

L/E Flaps

Scott: On the real one we would not adjust the app/ldg numbers for a l/e flap failure to deploy. I often wondered why we had them then, but I guess they were good for maneuvering more than anything else. T/E flap, now that's a different story! Tex.

104 lift devices

I'm not certain, although it seems that the 104 also used some type of blown flaps to inrcease low speed lift.

F104 kit

Sorry, but i had an computer crash and lost all data about seller,
but his name is Ralph Kayser, the kit is made by Arno Donath, and i believe Ralf Dvorak was involved in the design of the Kit.
i think someone on this list can provide some more info about
adresses and tlf numbers,Ralph Kayser is a very nice person and speeks english well and
is an reliable person to deal with.I have seen Ralf Dvorak posting
here so i think he might give some better answers than me about the kit

regards
Terje
