Nikon 3700 lens protection and shade

I have been wanting to get more protection for my Nikon 3700 so I found some foam and started cutting. What I ended up with was not only some more protection but it works great as a lens shade. The quality of the pictures have also improved. The shape makes a lens shade and keeps a lot of the glare off of the lens. Attached are some pics of the foam and also some pics I took this am early with bright sun. I think I am on to something see what you think.

Here is one with the shade and one without. The first one is with the shade. They were both taken about the same time. Early am sun low in the east. Ir seems that there is not as much glare. The videos come out better also. A lot less of the blue haze when getting rear the sun. I will see if I can find the video I took the same day and post it along with an older video.

Here is a video I took the same day with the shade. The video was taken with a MagpieAP. It starts out looking almost due east early in am. You can see the ground hase but no blue cast or streak. Looks like a keeper to me. Plus the protection of the lens.
