Here are a few pics of my new helicopter. Work in progress. I named it the PT-DMD130
What it has: brushless DMD main motor (RaceStar BR2212 1000kv 2/4s) Tarot tail hub as main rotor hub x3 linear cyclic servos brushless tail motor running on 2s batteries. |

However, rotary servos would be considered after tests are done on this initial project. When I have time to do proper 3D printed frame. The idea of bringing the motor and the battery closer to the main blades is that it would be closer to the COG. This makes it more stable and rotate more easy and quicker (hence save energy means more flight time). |

3D printed PT-DMD130
Here is the updated progress of my DMD130 with my 3D printed frame.
Test flown with x3 2s batts were very good. Got enough punchiness and agressive movements. Also very as stable hovering, did not try to wandering around. I am going to test it with 3s batteries and will let you guys know more. |

in terms of mass centralisation its a great idea. you decided against the servos being next to the motor ?

No, in next version I will try to bring them to the top (ie: closer to the COG). Using linear servos is much easier to fit them (my original design)
Still got to figure out a way to mount the rotary servos. Will think a way to mount them horizontally ( atm, it makes the frame much wider). |

I so love the idea of taking that to a heli club or fly and just as people are starting to mention it's not so much of a looker, throw down some hard 3D and leave em jaw dropped
Even funnier is I'm sure you could make that fly even better than a K130 out of the box. I dig it man, very groovy. |

Haha that would be good! Start with really low headspeed and erratic flight then crank up the RPM and let it rip
Looking forward to seeing how it develops @ptern -nice work! |

Version 2 of 3D printed PT-130DMD micro helicopter
Version 2 of the 3D printed PT-130DMD is under testing. It will be powered by 3s/600mA battery.
update: Test report after x6 3s batts. As I expected, very stable, fast and agile for a home made little micro helicopter. pitch and roll were very fast. tail held perfectly no wag or twitch or blow out even at full pitch pumps. Test flight duration of flat 80% throttle average 3mins with 3.7v per cell left. Has no one to assist to take videos so sorry guys no flight video yet. |

PT130DMD version 2 short video of test flight.
Here is a short video of the test flight.
It is winter season now and today just got a bit of the sky clearing up so I took a short video of a test flight. Went to the parks and because Covid restriction has been relaxed a bit so all the parks are now full of people and kids playing soccer or crickets. I then have to do a video at my backyard which has very limited space.
and I can say YES it can be done, the DMD micro heli can be very simple to make with a 3D printer. |

It may be easy to assemble but tuning to fly well you might just be understating your wizardry.

My birds are flown with whatever came with the K110. I did not need to do any tuning, this is the reason why I love about these little gems called "K110 gyro". I also did strapped a K110 to my 450 size heli and it also flew very well. The reason for it was the 450 had a brushless tail instead of the norm of belt or TT driven. |
