Self guided missles?

My Friend and I were discussing the possibllity of SAMS for chasing our Depron foam jets. our idea is basically to have a ground launched rocket with up to a minute or run time probably a pusher setup (no fire)

possibly having an ultrasonic beacon on the planes and have the missle have a couple of microphones and a PIC chip to listen and control the servo/direction of travel.

Has ANYTHING like this been done before?? don;t wan't to re-invent the wheel type of thing.

rockets would also be constructed of depron.

I'm a RC airplane addict just getting interested in rockets.
My first was the Estes Pencil, followed by the Fliskits Spitfire.
These both ended up as tree foliage. I now use a much larger launch area.
Here's the replacement Spitfire...

The Silver Bullet

Thought this might make for an interesting addition to this forum. I've never posted here, but have been building and launching rockets for almost 20 years now. We called this one the Silver Bullet. It was more or less a redesigned kit and ran off an Aerotech G80-10T engine.

There's a video of this particular launch and some other info on my site:

Here is one other neat one from my site:

And here's the link to a number of other images and the story behind the rocket:

forgot about this one

Well, this one is much less interesting -- moreso just your run of the mill Estes package. All the same, I thought I should at least post a link to anyone interested.

Here is a mean machine that I built for my 6 yr-old nephew. I powered it with an E30-7T, altitute about 1100 feet. A nice demo rocket- can fly on "D" cells in smaller fields, and using the composites it can really scream.

I was born just past the nick of time and did not get to see that series.

Could you give me a holler when it is available?

Nice looking rocket, twest. Handsome nephew, too.
Looks like it is going to be a warm winter.
