MPX evo main board mystery burn out

I have been on the mission to upgrade , update , sort out entire fleet of my RC stuff.
I have learned a lot with the help of people here on XPS forum
here is a mystery case someone would experience or have explanation
I have run Evo 9 for lots of testing with the rest of XPS bits.
I was binding another Rx to Evo Tranny. After making the receiver ready here comes the Tx turn
Pressing the PROG button , putting the switch on
Green Light and all of the sudden tiny smoke and smell coming form the area where we put the module in Evo.
Red light on module
Tx loosing the text on screen , stops blinking
funny sound from XPS module
shut and disconnect everything
when module unplugged Tx is working ( no RF)
thinking - must be module is gone
plugged the module to another (12 channel) Tx - module is working
Putting in back as it was - not working
Funny sound for XPS module, unusual sound like low battery on Tx
shutting off
module is working again in another Tx
original (9 channel) tx is OK as long has no module
Trying Another MPX module - not working
It must be a short in the main bord. No signs of burning anything

Check to see if the module port pins have broken solder joints. This was a VERY common problem with the Futaba 9C, and sometimes a problem with other transmitters that put square pegs in round holes and soldered them. After a period of time working the pins via plugging in and unplugging a module connector, the solder joints break (especially when not enough solder was used to begin with). The fix is just to resolder the 5 pin male header.

Sounded like a perfect explanation of symptoms
Went with the soldering tip over many hard working pegs. Power switch and plug and others
One of the mentioned pegs looked suspicious
But .... nope. All the same
Time to say good by for now.
