Jet Design Contest: Thunderbirds F-16 Formation Flyer


This is my entry in the pusher category, a diamond formation of Thunderbirds F-16s.

Note: I will be out of the country & unable to respond to questions in this thread until May 13th - thanks for your patience.

RCM(or MAN) did one of those years ago. It was 1/2A I believe. They did the blue angles.

EXCELLENT work, Matt! That looks really cool. How does it fly? Is it very aerobatic? I'm looking forward to seeing more details, especially since you're flying it on a single CD-ROM!

Great work! Paint the rods a flat gray, and they should disappear even better.

I plan to make one like this with F-18 Hornets, probably a delta formation, either a three ship in larger size or a sixer in smaller scale. My hope is to do it without any rods at all, by overlapping noses, tails, and wingtips, so it's essentially a flying disk with soem weird cutouts in it. Then paint and other surface details bring out the rest of the illusion. Please describe the power and control setups you are using.
