Sub 1.5 gr 3 Channel Biplane from Lad (St.Petersburg, Russia)

Here is my new model - 3 channel biplane with 20 mAh Lipoly.
Its first flight today has proved that the model is very stable,
and it is a real slow flyer! Radius of the turn is under 1 meter.
The thrust is unexpectedly high (not measured yet), the model
flies up at approx.half-gas.

Wing span 150 mm
Length 145 mm
Wing area 1.59 dm2
Wing loading 0.93 g/dm2
Motor+gear 0.28 g
Prop 0.02 g
Lipoly 0.62 g
Ir Rx 0.12 g
Ir Sensor 0.04 g

Total Weight 1.48 g

I didn't see the photos first time around either. Methinks Lad has simply got one of those Guiness-Book-of-Records-world's-largets-lighters that he uses to fool people :=)

Seriously, wonderful machine. Even the 20mAh looks huge on it!

What did you cover it with?

Very nice. We need a build thread on something like this. What are you using for actuators?

If you had a 10mAh cell I think it might be the lightest ever?

I agree. I think the only thing between you and the record is the lack of one of those special 10mAh Kokam LiPoly cells. Somehow I don't think any of the people with those cells will be loaning you one.

Very very impresive craftmanship. It has a very early days of aviation look to it with your elegantly curved CF ribs.

I bet it's full scale with a gigantic cigarette lighter placed by it to make it look smaller!

wow, i really love it! the beautiful prop completes the look of it!

you should try to get ahold of a 10 mah cell, im sure you could beat the record. i think you will be the first one to get under 1 gram for a 2 channel rc plane- your not very far off.

very nice. that is the lightest plane i have ever seen. where did you get an IRRX that weighed 0.12 grams. the lightest i ahve seen is 0.22 grams. but that biplane is very cool!!!!
i have asked people in many different posts how they could work with small planes and i am going to ask it again: how can you work with something that small?

Hi Lad, once again you have me speechless

Well almost
Is the wing made with the same technique as your propellor? Wondering how you got the nice small radius at the tips and how the ribs are constructed...
