DIY 900 Mhz tx/rx?

Plantraco have got the indoor flyers in a feeding frenzy with their ultra light high frequency RX. Whilst they are are satisfying the pre-built demand it looks like good alternative to the DIY FM systems that have problems with obtaining filters and the rx chips. Is there any info on the various silicon employed in the Plantraco rx? In their blurb they advertise no crystals, probably don't have the filter and discrimantor problems either.

Hi excaliber,

We started something here
a while back. It does look interesting .
You do need a crystal ( 10MHz ) for the RX/TX but it doesn't change with frequencies.

Hrm. Looks *very* similar to the Plantraco RX, which also has a 16 pin receiver chip & 10Mhz oscillator. Also has the same frequency hopping capability that they're promising in future revisions...

Doesn't seem like many places stock em tho...

What are the other components on the Plantraco board? one is probably a PIC with the ID removed there are two apperently identical metal cans, which look like old fashioned transistors, (but I guess aren't)

Parts as far as I can see on the .9g:
PIC 16F676
two magnets (that's probably what you're thinking of
four dual fets, two hidden under sockets (NDC7001s or similar I'll bet)
motor fet
10 Mhz crystal
large cap (10uF?)
assortment of SMT caps and resistors, and maybe inductors
and of course the 16 pin radio chip, which I can't clearly make out the designation
