Need help and advise on the Castle Creation's Phoenix -25 Governor Mode

I am very tempted to get the above mentioned ESC for my Zap.

I have downloaded the manual and have 1 question regarding its setup under topic 9.4, Programming Setting 4 - Throttle Type.

If I choose the either the option 3 or option 4 which is the governor setting low or high, does it mean that whenever I power up my zap, it is already in governor mode when I move the throttle slightly or do I need to set the pitch curve to flat on my radio?

Currently my Stunt Mode ( Idle up mode ) in my JR 2610 TX is set up with throttle curve flat at about 70% to achive constant rpm through out as Align ESC does not have governor mode. I don't do 3d yet

Thank you in advance.

I beleieve the Hi and Low throttle type settings depict wether you are using a high or low RPM motor.

Get the PHX 35. The BEC on the 25 is not rated for 4 servos and a gyro.

The 25 will work, but for a few bucks more, go to the 35 if you can.
Running Gov mode, you do want to make your throttle curves flat, or it wont work.
Normal Mode 0-90-90-90-90
Idle 1 90-90-90-90-90
Idle 2 95-95-95-95-95

You can use normal mode for flying around, and the zero at bottom stick will allow you to land, and cut the motor easily.
In idle 1, the motor will run constantly, no matter where the stick is.
Idle 2 will give you max rpms for 3D

In gov mode, the numbers do not represent the throttle amount on the speed control.
For example, in my setup, max throttle is 67 across the line. And normal mode is:
0-56-56-56-56, giving me 2250 RPMS
Idle 1 is: 58-58-58-58-58, giving 2350 RPMS
Idle 2 :60-60-60-60-60, giving 2450 RPMS
You make the numbers on the Tx equal to the headspeed you want on the heli.

Thanks skeppley.

Is it true that the CC25 governor mode does not work on all brushless motors and only works on certain brushless motors?

Thanks again.

What motor are you running?
CC has updated there firmware to version 1.12. It is said to work with MANY motors.
I still like 1.10 better so far. Still need to do some testing on high gov mode and advances in 1.12 before i can say for sure which version is better.

I found 'fixed mode' to fly better all around.. only takes more time to set-up.

Get the CC35 and order the Phoenix Link as well. Makes setting up the ESC very easy. I am running the latest Firmware on my TRex and Governor Mode works just fine. The Soft Start is also better. The new Firmware works with in and out runners.
