Fokker D8 ,Span 57, Power ?

I built a Fokker D8 scratch Earl Stahl, 57 span, weight 26 ounces less battery,
Thinking of using a, Mayhem reverse wound, 8 cell sub C 1700,gearbox 2.3 :1 ,12x6 prop.
Or maybe ,7 cell sub c, 11x6 prop. Geez dont know could be dangerous.

I'm flying my 72" Morane Saulnier with a MM and a beltdrive (2.33:1) on 8 cells and a 12x8 prop. Your D8 ought to be just fine. The MM is a really versatile motor that provides a lot of bang for the buck.

Keith Shaw has been flying this plane for decades (!), first with a SuperTigre .23 and then with an Astro 15 geared on 12 small cells. It works very well. Keep it as light as you can while still maintaining the design CG. I don't think you are going to need much more than 150W so you can prop for modest amps. If you use 8XGP3300, you will add 16oz. to your 26 for a very light 42oz. At 20A, (160W) you've got 60W/lb - sufficient for good sport performance.

8x GP3300 sub C cells?

I comncur that 8 cells/MM/2.3/12x8 is good, or 3s LIPO and 11x7...

Yep, 8 of the GP3300 or 3700 NiMh cells. Or to keep the weight really low, 8 of the GP2200 NiMh cells, (I think that would be about 10oz.!) I didn't recommend LiPos as their cell voltage is either too high, (3S) or too low, (2S), for that motor setup, and you will likely need a little weight in the nose.
