This is the way I usually ship a freshly built model
So it might seem the shipping cost can be a might pricey, it's usually due to the weight because I rarely charge for packing materials. I try to use what I have on hand or what I can salvage, but if I have to go out and spend money on packing materials, then I will pass some of that cost on to the buyer.

I'm 66 and have had a life full of dealing with people. Many people that ship things are not conscientious, have no common sense, and don't care.
I recently bought a used CD car player on Ebay, and the seller shipped it by wrapping a paper mailer bag around the bare metal player. I had another guy ship me a used Ohaus precision beam scale stuffed bare and bulging out of a USPS flat rate box. I've had companies ship me 12V lead-cell batteries loose inside of oversized boxes which then slid and crushed other merchandise....etc, etc. Next time I come back I want to be like those people. They are probably able to enjoy life easier worrying about nothing. I'm tired of saving old water-heater boxes (just like you do, I see) and 30 gallon bags of recycled peanuts, stacks of used boxes, and other supplies to ship things proper when the time comes. My whole life is planning to do things right, but nobody cares, and are you having fun doing it? I'm not. Carry on. lol. |

Looks good. The only comment is that the frame should be carpet smooth edge(with the tacks) so if someone punctures the package they suffer!

My point is that I really believe that people with a chore who are very detailed and conscientious with how they do it, and are proud too to show it too, are often this way with EVERYTHING. I've had people who had only just met me for a few minutes during friendly casual conversation say to me with a chuckle; "Boy, you are a very analytical kind of person, aren't you." (ie; anal) I suppose that this is what my repeat customers of 20-30 years and 14,000 service calls had come to expect of me. I can't say that running a successful business, spending years building pretty toy planes, striving to shoot 1/4" 5-shot groups at 100 yards with my handloaded ammo, or shipping neat and well bundled constructed USPS packages has enhanced my life. My own experience has been that generally these traits are NOT of somebody who's foot loose & fancy free or the life of the party. YMMVWV (ie; your mileage may very well vary.) Regards. |
