New Hurricane and ME 109 slowflyers?

Just saw these at Sheldons hobbies.... They looked really nice and were made by a company called Scorpio. They can be viewed on the Hobby Lobby site. They are supplied with an Mp Jet gb and 280 motor.Allthough They recommend a speed 300 motor for better performance. cost is $89 not bad for an arf with motor and gb.

I just might buy one of them tommorrow. Has anybody flown one yet?---Rob

I recently saw a made up Hurricane slow flyer without ailerons. I think this is the same model. I really love the Hurricane, but it looked really strange with all that dihedral.

Go to foamies and trace back a couple weeks for more information. The Hurricane flies fine on the standard 280 with the gear box it comes with. The dihedral is definitely not scale but it allows the plane to turn really well. The Me-109 has a little more trouble turning according to past posts. Mike

Hi
I just built a second Me-109, (the first one got crushed on the way back from a trade show) and it flies and turns just fine. I know that Jurgen has said that he had a sluggish response to rudder on his, but on the two that I have built and flown I didn't have the same problem. The biggest difference between the Hurricane and the 109 would be on ground handling. The 109's wheels are closer together and further in front of the CG than the Hurricane, this makes it more prone to groundlooping on landing. Hey, but its good practice in speeding up the old thumb response.
The kit does come with the gearbox but not the motor. The model will perform with either the 280 or the more powerful 300 motor. Mine has the 300 and I just don't use full throttle very much.

I bought the 109 today. You are correct in pointing out that it does not come with the motor. I think I'm going to use the 300 or a 280bb in it. I'm curious as to which packs you use, maybe you can fill me in on your setup. Thanks---Rob

The battery pack that I am using is a 7 cell 600mAh pack that is folded. The battery box will accept an 8 cell 600 pack but you don't need the extra juice. The battery location is very near the CG allowing a broad range of battery weights with very little retriming. If I were going to fly the model indoors, a 7 cell 350 pack would keep things lighter. My plane came out at 17oz. with the 7 600's
