Hardware Redundancy


The Cube’s design helped set the standard for sensor redundancy in an autopilot, all models apart from the Purple feature triple IMU sensors of which two are located on an internally vibration isolated temperature controlled module.

Cube Autopilot Models





Originally starting with the Cube Black the range has since expanded to include powerful STM32 F7 and H7 models as well as the US manufactured Blue Cube and a wide range of carrier boards including the new ADS-B In version in corporation with uAVionics.


The Cube Orange
The Most powerful Cube Autopilot





The Cube Orange is the latest Cube and the most powerful version of this autopilot. Using the STM32H7 series its over twice as fast as the the Cube Black. The H7 is based Cortex-M7 on a new 40 nm architecture with double precision floating point units, an onboard crypto unit and 2Mb of RAM.

Having the new powerful SOC the Cube Orange allows users developers to harness even more from their autopilot.
Users can take advantage of this extra power with the ability to run multiple Lua scripts directly on the SOC allowing for a massive amount of new customisation for your application .

LSM303D integrated accelerometer / magnetometer.

Application

Ideal for general UAV and ground/water based applications with Ardupilot and PX4 but has now been replaced with the Cube Orange for most users.



Cube Yellow
STM32 F7 Based for Custom Applications





The Cube Yellow was released along side the Orange and is fitted with the STM32F7 series SOC. Featuring a Cortex-M7 on the 90 nm architecture It still had double precision floating point units but runs at a slower clock speed compared to the H7 model.
The Cube yellow offers many performance improvements over F4 based Cube black and allows users developers to harness even more from their autopilot. The Yellow Cube is ideal for PX4 users or custom applications where STM F series architecture is required but need more power than the Cube Black.

The Cube Purple is a small form factor version of the original Cube Black, specifically for ground or water based applications where redundant and internally isolated sensors are not required.

Cube Blue

Carrier Boards





One of the major benefits of the Cubepilot ecosystem is that the Cube module and connection IO carrier board are separate, this allows you to choose a setup with the connections and features for your specific needs. For developers and system integrators the Cube Autopilot is the perfect solution for you, today there are over 70 publicly registered carrier designs and If none of these suit your needs Cubepilot (ProfiCNC & Hex Aero) publish the carrier board PCB files under licence for use as a template for system integrators develop their own.

4 independent and customisable LEDs can be set to indicate different flight status
Built-in MS5611 barometer on CAN bus for those who need external barometer due to internal placement of flight controller inside an airtight aircraft.

I have created a video showing the deferent models and what options are best for you. No matter of your a Ardupilot user with Arduplane or Ardicopter or your a PX4 user they have a Cube that will suit your needs.

Also if your looking to add ADS-B capability the new carrier board includes and Avionics ADS-B receiver onboard for use with Mission planner.
