Great sticky!

I made these for my build of ScottA's Gee Bee D last year. They are not perfectly historic, but get the flavor across. The actual Harvard flying club cat was a stringy looking puma. I started with a low res Black Cat fireworks logo and redrew it as a vector file and put it in the circle, etc. Note that the particular airplane that I modeled had various colors during its life, but cream and blue (or green) would have been more historically accurate than the red and white. The red and white scheme came from the Gee Bee R1 but it looked good!

I also included paint templates for the Gee Bee swoop and scallops that I made to fit the model. I glued them to masking tape, cut them out, and stuck it on the plane for paint masking. If you pu masking tape on both sides of a piece of wax paper first, then you cut your left and right masks simultaneously.

I have found the clear Avery label sheets work great on light backgrounds, especially white. They don't look so good on dark backgrounds because the ink is transparent. So, if I need white on the decal, or I want bright opaque colors, I print on the white label stock.

***Re-read the first post and tried to clean this up to comply. ***

Here are some logos you can use as "sponsors" on a race plane. I included some tongue-in-cheek ones like Dollar Tree to fit the theme of my "El Cheapo" racer.

These are from a combat P-51 I did recently. Not much different from what others have posted, but the PDF is a vector file so they should scale nicely.

This is updated and drawn as close to the standard posted in post #23 as I can do with the tools I have. Note it is basically the same as Post #1 and #2 but also offered as a vector file. One high quality Jpeg approximately 1 3/4 x 3 and a vector based PDF that should be scalable to any size you want with out pixelation.

I noticed that the roundels at the US mil link in post #26 continue the outer circle all the way around. Don't know which is right or if they were from different time periods. I assume the sometime between WWII and today, the outer circle was extended.

Not wanting to be rude, but it would be best to keep this thread just about downloadable decals.

Thanks.

P&w R1830

I just found this on Ebay and thought it would be handy to put in a cowl.

Some civil air insignia

Scanned these from a free flight source now lost to me. Low definition. If anyone can help with resolution, please let me know.
