Well...I appreciate your work MORE...so THERE!
I'm a CoVid Pilot since started flying on the Ides of March. I immediately bought a DX9 Black Edition, firstly because I wanted to add flaps to my Carbon Cub and needed another channel on the tx but also knowing full well that I would be adding planes immediately. I have already referenced your work on numerous occasion because it's so easy and intuitive, not to mention the info is presented understandably. |

In the interesting of being helpful, just as a reminder, the Flap System (as opposed to just assigning a two or three position switch to the flap channel) allows you to do a couple of things:
But, I'm gratified to hear that you are pleased with the Guide!! Thank you! Andy #3 |

And you won’t even know the Flap System exists unless you choose an Aircraft Type that specifies a wing with flaps.

I was lucky and discovered it before I ever saw this manual right after I bought my DX9, which I bought just so I could set a flap channel on my little Carbon Cub RTF. Most expensive flaps on a foamer...EVER! The flap delay is the bomb and I even figured out the mixing with elevator on my own, too. The tx does have SOME intuitive features for us rookies but clearly, I haven't scratched the surface!

Sailplane spoiler tuning
I bought a beautifully built Olympic II RES sailplane at auction. What set-up could be simpler? EXCEPT that there are two spoilers and two spoiler servos. On my servo tester, the right servo shows full up at 1050 and full down at 1700. The left servo shows full up at 1950 and full down at 1345. So, to put the spoilers on a single switch, I'll need to reverse one of the servos- I think that I understand that. But where in the PGG do I go to figure out how to synchronize the servos so that they raise and lower together? I suspect that the raise together is not too critical, but the retract to full down has to be full down but no more, so that there is no servo binding.
Any help most welcome. |

Its been a while since I have done this, but I think it is best to put the two spoilers on two channels, use 1 ail/2 flaps wing type, and use servo setup to adjust individual endpoints, sub-trim and reverse. Program as flaps on the flaps switch. It is very tricky to get it right with both on the same channel for the reason you mentioned.
Edit: On one of my two RES gliders, I noticed that I set it up as 1 ail/1 flap and then used a mix to slave the second flap off the first. Can't remember if there was a good reason for this, but it works just fine. |

just found and bought this manual and its excellent, easy to read and very clear information, many thanks for taking the time and effort to write this, you've got to wish that manufacturers would invest in user documentation, Spektrum documents are all very light on information so I'll be recommending this to members in my clubs.
BTW, you may want to tell gumroad that as from the 1st May 2020 there is no VAT payable on E-publications in the UK so they don't keep adding the 20% |

Thanks for licensing a copy of the Guide -- much appreciated -- and glad that you're finding it helpful. I'll pass on the message re: VAT for ePublications to Gumroad. Cheers Andy #3 |

I think they mean, because we classify everything as just "digital products" we cannot make this change apply to us. Andy #3 |

Sailplane spoiler tuning
Thanks Burnooly and Andy #1. I used "airplane" instead of "sailplane" and I ail 2 flap. (That lets me keep throttle on the throttle stick). Then a little fussing with subtrim, travel, and servo reverse, and we are in business. Spoilers are on a three position switch D on my DX-9. Also slowed down spoiler deployment in the flap menu.
