The manual says start at the wing tube (which is about 90mm aft the leading edge of wing at root (ALEWAR). This is solidly nose heavy. I started at 95mm or at the back of the wing tube and it was still nose heavy there as well.
Frankly, I can't imagine how you are way tail heavy with your battery all the way forward unless your battery/motor/esc are super light and/or your tail servos are super heavy. |

Howdy everyone,
hope I’m not buttin’ in... Because of this thread, ordered one of these last Sunday, treating myself to my first non foam , non helicopter build in about 6 years. This replaces my 48” MXS ( may she r.i.p.) Probably the only product I’ve ordered online lately that didn’t ask for a review within minutes to a day... so here’s my thoughts so far. Got it Wednesday, built it in about 5 hours over the weekend, and flew it twice on Sunday. Fastest, easiest balsa ARF I’ve ever assembled., out of maybe 30 total. Used the recommended power system, etc. only mod was the radio south hinges. Overall quality is the best I’ve ever seen— this is my sixth EF plane. Maiden was balanced on wing tube, and was very conservative, even nose heavy. 2nd flight was with Pulse 2250 about an inch and a half aft of where it was first flight. No idea where it balanced, but was much more better Only two flights, but felt very familiar, Best thing I can say is that every one of my EF planes have been my new favorite. Pretty sure this continues that tradition. |

That's a good mod. Those hinges are next to indestructible.

Btw,
When I ordered my Extra, I tried to buy a Falcon 12x6 wood prop, but EF was out of stock. Found some (unpainted) here: https://www.helidirect.com/products/...-12x6-electric |

Well i got my promodel servos today. man they do a awesome job on packaging and goodies, but maybe they could be $20 cheaper w/o all of those added items, But i can see them wanting to get the name out there to everyone.
I like to complain about how big the center are and i had to really dremel out the hole for the elevator and rudder servo arm extensions. other then that they went in pretty good, kinda tight but did fit w/o having to cut the slots any larger. |

For future reference, you can use the ProModeler 1" PDRS101 arm on the elevator and get about 72 degrees of throw. I'm not sure you need that much and I am currently winding mine back. I'm at 65 and will probably end up around 50 or so. |

Doc, I've been steadily reducing my elevator throw as well. I currently have a 50 degree and a 65 degree elevator rate set up on all three of my 48" EF planes and I'm finding there just isn't much use for anything over about 50 degrees. I'm also running ailerons between 33 and 35 degrees because my name is not Jase.
