Spektrum AR630 is Coming - SAFE+FP+Antennaless

Was checking something else on FCCID.IO and tripped over a new BRW listing.....

Looks like Spektrum has another 6ch SAFE receiver on the way, this one being an antennaless unit with short range telemetry, although it also lists a bind/SRXL2/Prog port unlike the AR410/AR620's.

https://fccid.io/BRWSPMAR630/Users-M...Manual-4660435

Telemetry is short range like the AR636 and the other Antennaless units, and this has no X-Bus or sensor ports (of course, it should support sensors on SRXL2)

It also includes a neat SAFE Failsafe mode like the AR637T, where you can trigger self-level when it failsafes.

I'm guessing this will be the replacement for the AR636A for BnF's long-term as well as a cheaper SAFE option for those not interested in external sensors other than ESC's, or long-range telemetry.

Well, if we end up waiting a few months for the release like on the Ar637T, I'll agree.

If it's a couple weeks, it's probably just unexpected delays. The public posting date is selected at filing time.

FCC doesn't hide anything all docs are made available to public unlike the other labs across the world.

What exactly is short range telemetry? When spektrum talks about fly by tele, does that mean you have to fly your plane close to your Tx for tele to be available?

I believe they describe that as 'fly by' telemetry range. I've heard some HH folks say it's good out to 800 feet or so but don't expect telemetry from beyond visual range.

They promise 200-300', but I've seen double that in good RF conditions.

More than adequate for park flyers, but for bigger stuff you may only be getting telemetry intermittently.

These are full range receivers for control links, so ~1.5km is possible with control, but definitely no telemetry at that range on a receiver like the AR630

if it's a 'safe' receiver the telemetry is not that important

The rx remembers what hAppens to the signal ,out past the telemetry range and once back into telemetry range ,the info is updated
Any disagreements?

I see, thanks guys. Would that also read battery voltage?

It will give you receiver voltage, and if paired with a SMART ESC, pack voltage.

It does not include a voltage sensor port to read pack voltage directly, that's one of the extras that the AR637T gives you.

Looks to be a lightweight unit de-cased. Might swap to one of these in my f3p build from the ar620.

Short range telemetry has its uses. Slope flying or DLG when you don’t encounter a thermal certainly spring to mind. Like you say Parkflyers too should be ok with it.

If on the other hand you need full range telemetry then add a 4651T on the SRXL2 port. That’s got full range telemetry and will take over the transmission.
