Because they I find the models fly better. The 400 are heavier so the weight distribution is better so no need for dead weight to get the CG right. I also find the brushless seriously over power the model.

For example, with my Corsair on brushless, if I were to go more than 3/4 throttle the model would pitch up wildly and start doing loops. I could only trim down so much on my transmitter. With the brushed 400, the full throttle is less, and it's heavier to begin with, so there was much less pitch up and I found I had an easier to control model.

Stock E-Starter. Modded the landing gear with a block of wood epoxy'd into a cut out section of the fuselage. Seems to be holding up nicely.

Nice upgrade!

Just remember that epoxy is weight so go easy with it when you can!

I did something just like itwith my tigermoth400!

The gws wheels dont like grass thats the bottom line. most of my planes are belly landers and thats ok also!

The E-Starter flys great with no gear!

Just get the balance right on this plane otherwise your turns look real ugly!

Hi Jaboman

I have a Corsair [Flying Styro Kit] I wish to motorise using micro electronics. Biggest problem is the electric motor. Every one I see has a short prop shaft which means locating it and firewall well forward. This in turn places the C.o.B. too far forward.
Did you have this problem? and if so, how didyou overcome it.

Corsair problems.

Hi Jobman

I have a Corsair but it is the Chzec Flying Styro series.I want to convert to electric drive with micro-electronics. Unfortunately I cannot find a motor with a long enough prop-shaft which means locating motor and firewall [plywood] too far forward. This in turn will bring the C.o.B.forward making it difficult to balance. Did you have this problem? and if so, how did you overcome it?

Canada's Latest Beaver

Hi Guys,

My new GWS DHC-2 Beaver kit has been highly modified, I did my best to build things to as best scale as my modeling skills would allow me, we all know being exactly "scale" is not possible, but hey...we do the best we can with what we have to work with.

I decided to go with the color scheme of the very first Beaver ever test flown "CF-FHB" as it was the last year in service with "Norcanair" before she was decommissioned to the "National Aviation Museum" in Rockcliffe Ottawa Ontario Canada.

The first Beaver carried the chief design engineer, Fredrick Howard Buller's initials "CF-FHB".

One cool little fact that I just learned, Fred Buller actually spent quite a bit of his summer holidays as a kid in a place called "Roberts Creek" about 5 minutes up the road from where Beverly and I live !.

On the morning of August 16,1947 just after 10:00 A.M. Russ Bannock (DeHavilland Chief Test Pilot) took off to make the first flight in the first Beaver prototype. The flight was cut a little short due to a non-return oil valve was installed incorrectly. Bannock ended up having to make a "Dead Stick" landing on the maiden flight safe back on the ground the problem was corrected and a second successful flight was made.

An interview with Russ Bannock of the first flight can be heard here:

Early this morning Beverly and I got up and went into town (Lower Gibsons) to a little park called "Wine Garden Park" Beverly wanted to get some better lighting this morning instead of the lighting in the pictures I took yesterday, we were a little early this morning but managed to get a few good ones.

I'll save the technical close-ups for another post but for now this is "Canada's Latest Beaver"...

Beverly and I are looking forward to the maiden flight this weekend if the weather permits...
