Spektrum S2100 Smart Charger - Storage Charge

I have a new Spektrum S2100 Smart Charger that I am using to charge SPMX50004S100H5 ---- 5000MaH 4S 14.8V 100C batteries. I used the four batteries today in my 1/5 Scale Losi and then did a storage charge on all four batteries. Three of the batteries complete the storage charge and indicated that the charge was complete.

The last battery is still charging at 0.1A. The cell voltage is:
1. 3.78
2. 3.78
3. 3.78
4. 3.80

The charges has been going on for about 55 minutes.

How long does the storage charge usually take?

Is it trying to **balance** charge at that voltage?

Usually shouldn't, does take lots longer

What IS the proper way to plug in the balance plugs?

The balance port on the S2100 configuration is show on page 3 (US English) in the manual. When looking straight at the plug the balance connector would plug into the connector starting on the left side.

If you are using a Smart Battery I do not think you need to use the balance port.

Storage voltage does not need to be so precise.
Stop the charge and put the batteries in their safe container.

You SHOULD use the balance lead on every charge.
Plugs in with the lugs facing down and all the way to the left.

I have painted the area around the socket white. Makes it much easier to see.
Spektrum should have made the port orange like the main plug for visibility

If you are suggesting the need to balance when putting a battery into storage,
please explain.

As strange as it may seem, balance charging a normal pack in a discharged state actually imbalances it. Most of the time, the cells will have slightly different capacities and therefore will end up with slightly different voltages when discharged but will end up balanced when charged without the need for strong balancing when fully charged. Balancing the pack when discharged will demand more balancing when fully charged than if not balanced when discharged.

I am suggesting that you should use the balance lead regardless of the battery type (SMART vs normal)
