Build Log

Super Bandit foamy with Kolibrie T30 turbine

Hi friends, here are some pictures of a new build:
I have been inspired by this design but have done some design changes to suit my building technology and personal taste.

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...andit-Park-Jet

Thank you for your inspiration and hard work, Steve .

My build is 1800 mm / 70.9 inches long and will have a span of 1600 mm/63 inches.
The engine to be used is a Kollibrie T30 (3 kg / 3,0kp).

I build in thin foam sheets (5/10 mm/ 0,19/0,69 inch), with reinforcement of balsa / ply laminate and fiberglass in strategic places.
I'm aiming for a starting weight of about 4000 gr / 8.8 lb so this is going to be a very light and slow flying plane.

In the first picture we see the inner frame structure which will hold the front landing gear, tank, wing and engine.
(Not much foam here but it will come :-)

In the second picture: Beginning of the wing:
5 mm foam sheet.

Hi, work in pregress ower here:
Testing/ adjusting conection between wing and superstructure.

Then startaed om fin and stabilazer. Time to add some foam to this Project now:
I glue with PU-Glue.
It is important to put strong tape ower the joints, otherwise the glue will come out and make ugly marks.
The PU-Glue is fantstic to work with, i makes very strong joints.
Takes time to cure but its Worth it.

Time to dress the fuselage in foam now:
Starting with a "nosejobb".

Testmount of landing-gear:
I miscalculated the high of the wheels so i had to remove a part of the longerong .
Vill replace it wit other material later.

Allso added all the formers in the wing.
Small steps every day :-)

(But the headline giveas a clue).
This plane is built from inside and out.
A bit strange way of doing it but i think it will work fine?
