Bg md p-38 1200

So, for $50 I took a jump and ordered one of these "MD p38 1200mm EPO" jobbers. I ordered the kit version, but they ended up sending the one with all the servo's and motors, so hey, whatever.

Out of the box - typical warpage. DO NOT try the hot water trick though. I did, and it turned one of my wings into alligator skin

Out of the box motors - toss them aside. I used some 2212 x 2200kV jobbers with 30A ESC's. Will have to watch the throttle with the 8" props though, but should be a screamer.

The servo's are - well, they rotate, so that's a plus. We will see how long they last though.

I also added retracts. From BG, I think they were $8 a piece.

The kit itself isn't bad. The canopy is lousy, the superchargers are meh, and the stock landing gear is a joke. Either add retracts or make it a belly lander.

Pictures tonight, I didn't take many during the build though, and almost complete.

I have this plane as well. It's simply an old GWS P-38 made with newer style foam, but without a clear canopy.

The PnP motors are fine on their own, but NOT when trying to turn the included 3-blade props.

You may want to rethink 8" props on a tiny 2200kv motor, unless you're running 2s of course. A 2212 2200kv is suited for 6" props on 3s and 5" on 4s.

Mine is setup as a belly lander that I can run on 3s or 4s and it's a great flying plane.

Make sure to strengthen the booms--very weak in stock form...
