U ditch U die!

If you get it wrong landing on trying to take off again on water and ditch then your heli is toast.... not to mention all the water that gets sprayed into the electronics from the rotor blast. You will destroy servos, RX, mixer boards / ESCs etc ...

hahaha.... maybe you would be just better off with a balloon.

And you could even paint a helicopter on it!!

I've just started playing with floats for my Hummingbird. It really is a lot of fun. I cut up a water noodle for mine. I've seen people do the same with a Hornet, Shogun, and a TRex.

Sometimes they flip.

Use round or vee bottom floats.

BTW: the annual float fly is in a month. Maybe I should try again ; )

I wouldn't use lipo's. Lithium and water mixes explosivly.

I've crashed one helicopter in the pool, and flipped a plane on floats. Both had Lipos. Both lipos got wet (no explosion). After drying them, they worked fine.

Remember they are Lithium ion battreries. It's not pure lithium metal in there.

Really? I thought they were Lithium Polymer batteries?

Either way, the lipo's are sealed.

And if you crash hard enough to "unseal them", they're going to do bad things wet or dry.
