Which Rx for Hawk DLG?

I'm about to order a Hawk DLG and I'm not having much luck finding the recommended receivers. Most of the Spectrum Rx's I see mentioned that are being used are discontinued or no longer available. I plan to use 4x D47 servos , Spectrum DX6, and a Venom Fly 250 30c/3.7V battery ( I currently use this battery in my Elf).

Will the Spectrum AR410 or AR620 receivers fit and work with cases off? Should I go with the Lemon DSMP 6 CH, can I trust a $8.50 Rx? I'm not looking to save money, just want a compatible Rx that fits. Any suggestions for a receiver that will work? Thanks.

In my Deviant I’m using a decased and heat shrunk 410. Works great. The deviant is 2.4 friendly as the 410 has no external antenna’s.

Lemon receivers are rock solid.

I think.

I don't think the AR410 will fit in the nose of the Hawk even decased. Just had one on the bench this week trying to fit in a Flitz2. The Hawk nose is smaller.

As Robert suggests, the Lemon would probably be a good choice. I am also thinking of trying my FrSky GR-X6 in mine to save some space. I am currently using a decased Atx 7ch with hardwired leads instead of plugs.

Good luck,
Wayne

The AR410 is much too large for my use. Several years ago I begged Lemon RC to make a small 4 channel rx for the DLG market but they did not do so.

I wouid love to have a small rx that had a common lead for + and - , with 4 pins for signal.

A FrSky R4XR with the pins reversed is about as close to that as you can get. Or you might look into going s-bus.

Thank you everyone for all the information and input, very helpful. I guess I'll try this Lemon 6-Ch end pin Rx with a diversity antenna:

Can I keep the antenna whiskers inside the nose since the front of the Hawk is 2.4GHz friendly glass? I'm also assuming there's no issue of using this with my DX 6 Transmitter?

Antennae inside nose is ok. Run one lenthwise to the nose. Place the other one crosswise. Put them on the bottom, then put in your rx and batt. That way when the plane is above you there is nothing between you and the antennae. I tape mine with blenderm tape so they don't move.

Wow ... that is some nice work. A fellow has to be dedicated to do that type of soldering.

It is making me wonder if I should pull the shrink off my Jeti receiver and see if the pins can be reversed.

Photo came from Mickey Nowell. Resoldering the pin block is not trivial but if you have the right tools it can be done. I've even modified one like this.

Easier to buy them without the pins installed. Then put them in backwards.
https://www.horusrc.com/en/frsky-rx4...-channels.html Select : Without Pin Non-EU
The pins that come with them have very short legs, so I use these instead so the connector has enough clearance
over the components on the circuit board.

You could make things really easy and get the 6 channel without pins and get some of this to make the pins backwards.
Would be a little taller, but you would have a dedicated power port. Same issue with the short legs on the pins, so these would give more clearance.

You can also get the longer leg two row right angle from sparkfun, and their minimum order is smaller than Digikey.

I got my double row right angle header strips for the RX4R from Hansen's. The legs were plenty long for the job. I think I even had to grind a little off the ends before soldering.

They have triple row headers also.
