That depends on whether it's a right hand or left hand prop. A right hand pitch prop will turn clockwise to move the boat forward. In the picture, the prop on the left is a left hand pitch prop; the prop on the right is right hand pitch.

Depends on whether you're observing from front or back!
If in doubt, look at the prop's blades and imagine them as threads on a screw (they also call props "screws", right?). As you turn the prop, which way makes it want to "screw" into the water in the forward direction?

easy way to tell, fit the prop, get it spinning in air, with the stick on all ahead full, and put ur palm of your hand 6 inches away from the stern of the boat, if you feel a draught, its the right way as its pushing air to the back of the boat, and so newtons law says the boat will move forwards
