Rare Find - 1970s Pinckert Gator w/ Twin OPS 60s - Cool Story - SGRA

A friend of mine cleans out houses and asked me if I wanted to buy an RC boat. Without seeing it, I went to him to check it and low and behold, it's a racing boat from the 70s. Come to find out from asking around on FB that it's a 1970s race boat called the Pinckert Gator. It says Southern Gentlemen's Racing Association on the side, which helped me track down some group members.

Attached is the story, which is also fascinating to me.

I attached the story from screenshot messages on FB. Super cool.

Has two OPS 60s on it. Everything looks to be in great shape for it's age. I bet it would run if started. I opened the back half and it has an 1970s Futaba Receiver and Servos which are going on ebay because I have absolutely no way to even test if they work (https://www.ebay.com/itm/153795813542) - On that note, I didn't know these vintage Futaba electronics were worth as much. One servo on ebay is listed at $45 alone, crazy. Will probably put new electronics in it but thought i'd share and post updates as I go, if I keep it.

Of course, Racing Boats may feel that it's too old-fashioned, and would be better here!

But you are correct that both forums should be told about it....

If a MOD sees, this, can you move this for me?

No need to move - just mention it to the racing boys and see if they are interested. I'm quite happy for old boat restoration and provenance tracking to be covered here....

No more than getting to see an "old fashion" Ferrari.

I bet if any old timers are still haunting that "Racing Boats - IC" room, their eyes may tear up.

Wish I could duplicate post. Figured some old timers would enjoy this.
