Wing Modeling Help For Cnc

I am tring to do drawings for a wing so I can CNC a mold and having a difficult time doing so... I wanted to post to see if anyone can offer help, advice etc. The wing has 3 airfoils with an elliptical planform and this is why I am having difficulty.

All help is appreciated......

Thanks

I just saw a software package that does this... Compufoil?

Where's the wind?

Are you using Autocad or something similar? If you are, can you import the airfoils and then use them as a wire frame to overlay a skin? Haven't done it before, but I used this technique in Microstation to draw a fuse a couple of years ago.

It would be easiest to do this in a 3d cad package like proE. You can do it in autocad but the wing will not be as easy. What cad experience do you have?

Tim - I will send it to you in a little while.

I have Rhino 3D (latest version), AutoCad, Maxsurf,Compufoil, so you can see its not that I do not have experiance... Its hard to do. I actually did a very nice on last night but need to check it for accuracy. The tip is not what I want .........

i have done quite a bit of lofting in solidworks and i think if you take the airfoil shapes and loft them with guide curve paths i think it can be done. if you can send me the outline you want too.

The tip is always the problem when modeling an elliptical wing. You end up having to kluge the tip somehow. And of course the tip of an elliptical wing is the most important part of the wing. Mess it up an you can get a rather nasty behaving wing. You have the right idea about how to model it though!

You should try Catia, I hear it's better software for aircraft structures, i.e airfoils and such curves.
