The little outrunner motors need high timing 26 - 30 degrees. The Pursuit is one of the best handling boat around & with a Leopard 4074 - 2200kv on 4s should do around 50mph, that Leopard motor is a y wind & timing set to 10 - 15 degrees.

Thank you for the info on the leopard 4074. I have been searching the internet trying to find out if it was a D wind or a Y wind.
I just assumed in the end it must have been a D wind as it was fairly cheap ( from china ) around £50. I thought a Y wind would have cost a lot more.... So looks like i was wrong. I better set the timing back up.

The timing weather it be d or y wind makes no difference in price of motors.

A much larger prop means the motor will be spinning slower (and working harder). Watch motor temps!

And prop torque roll could become an issue with a bigger screw on back, so watch for that too.

Ok thanks. After a full run with 2 x 2200mah 40c turnigy lipos in parallel i noticed the motor was quite warm but not what i would call hot.
I will run a single pack with the 38mm and check how hot it gets before i try running in parallel again. Will also bring it in before it hits the lipo cut off and check temps. The little 30amp esc was quite warm so hopefully the 90amp will cope better.....

That's a 3S boat. "2 x 2200mah ... in parallel" is only 2S power.

Why? Didnt he use 2x 3s 2200 giving him a 3s 4400?

Its all done and programed. Thanks Jan for the tip on the program card.
Ive set the timing to setting 7 (22.5) the max is setting 8 and that is (26.25)
Not sure if i should go to the max with the stock motor.... But to be honest it won't be long before i order the 3500kv for this boat. ( will have to remember to prop down when i do)
All thats left to do now is get it in the water. Thanks again guys for checking this thread. Your info is much appreciated.

I see. I was thinking of when FARMER ran a pair of 2S packs in series for 4S power. It really scooted, but hard on the 3mm drive train.

4400mAh(!) That much extra weight can have a big performance degrade effect on a small boat.

The strange thing was, when i tried it last week the speed seemed faster if anything. I was really expecting the extra weight of another pack to slow it down. I will get the garmin in there and check between 1 pack and then 2 in parallel. It surely must be slower though like you say.

I bet it was quick on 4s but yeah 3mm flex not really up to it. I have upgraded the stock flex in my volantex atomic to a .130 octura cable. Only slightly bigger than stock but it seems to be enough to cope with 4s.

It propably seemed faster because it Made more spray

Just wanted to ask a quick question about my pursuit to save starting another thread... Does this boat need the trim tabs? Only ive seen some pics of the carbon version without any.... Or is it best to leave them on but bend them up slightly? Could be why mine runs a bit wet. I have taken them off to bend them up a bit as mine were slightly pointing down.... Was thinking about trying it with them off or is this a bad idea?

You might have better luck asking in a Pursuit-related thread: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...uit-mono-setup
