.15 engines for SSC

With Magnum & ASP gone, where do we go from here?

As you may or may not know SSC rules state that the engine cannot cost more than $89 retail non-sale new. The Magnum .15 was the best bang for the buck.

https://www.mikegoesflying.com now carries SH engines now that have a .16 for $79.99.

Modify SSC rules for size or to allow more expensive engines like the Norvel?

The only one left is the LA .15 size wise to be 'legal', as with everything else, the price has gone up, up. This is one version of the .15 size. Still, a person needs to contend with costs, especially when the event is on a low ebb of popularity now. Using the S/H engine is one option. Obviously the .1 in engine displacement won't change performance. Restrictions in rpm is a major governing factor. There are a lot of used engines out there and parts avail to service the whole engine assembly. This may be where those that don't have the skills of having a cottage industry to rebuild this type of engine for sale or servicing customers engines.

Hi guys.
If you look at the specs for the Magnum .15 XLS, OS LA .15 and OS .15 CV-A they are actually larger than .15 and the SH .16 is actually smaller than .16 so I don't see why it should matter. The cost is also lower than the LA.

Keep an eye on this thread for an RCCA official to chime in as I have brought this to their attention already.
