From an equipment perspective - I have a 230s V2 bound to a X-lite Pro with the IRange Xlite 4-in-1 with the DIY MPM firmware. Works great for me (a beginner) . I also fly in my yard which is a similar amount of space and its ok but I wish I had more space so that I would feel more comfortable trying things IRL that I am doing in the SIM (inverted circles etc.)

I try and do most of my crashing in the SIM and only do things on 230s that I'm pretty comfortable in the SIM doing.

I try new things in the SIM first too. But for actually trying it out for real I go to my nano s2. Its kind of expensive considering its size and it having brushed motors but its so light it takes very little damage from even hard crashes and is capable of inverted flight, etc. I bravely do things on my nano that I don't think I will even try on my 230sv2 for even another year or more.

It looks like the blade 250 cfx has been discontinued. I never flew mine much. It just didn't fly as stable as the 230sv2 in beginner flight mode.
