Sarik Hobbies 88" Lockheed Super Constellation build
Since there are several of Phillip Noels Constellation builds on rcgroips I went with Sarik Hobbies for the title. I ordered and received a small box crammed full with 9 sheets of plans. After reading all the build threads I HAD to take it to the next level, and ordered the laser cut Wood pack priced in English currency for £141.67 and the vacuum formed cowls for £20.42 . I recieved an e mail from Sarik Hobbies that my parts have been shipped via World Wide and scheduled for delivery on 11-29. I'm looking forward to receiving the shipment so I can do an inventory of the laser cut parts and go from there. Pictured is a DVD that I recieved today that documents the Lockheed L-1049 Constellation

Well right on schedule I recieved the wood pack for my Super Constellation build, all the way from across the pond in England. FED X delivered it as I was in.my building space working on my enlarged to an 80" W.S. Douglas DC-6B.. I'm kind of excited about having received this parcel, which I have yet to un wrap. The shipping box could of been.larger, but size matters with over seas AIR shipments. Just wondering what type of cargo jet this WORLD WIDE shipped box was loaded on--AND come to think of it how could the delicate vacuformed cowls be in such a small box, well I will find out a bit later.

Sorry for double post. I opened the bix and found the Connie coels nestly packed inside. No inventory of the parts quite yet. Just ordered the 1/8"x1/4" 48" length stringers,(the longest I could find)from BALSA USA based on posts regarding alignment issues with the resr emphanage snd rear flying surfaces,I will take it slow, but not too slow as I'm 68 and feeling rather mortal..

I just recieved my BALSA USA order with my 40 1/8x1/4x48 balsa sticks which are used for the fuselage stringers. The Balsa USA pricing as of Dec. 2019 came in at .77 each so with price increases on the horizon I am told ,I'm glad I got my order in.

Well take it in steps: #1 order the plans ,they are a real treat.------ Nothing to report as I'm constructing an 80" Douglas DC-6B right now. I sure am looking FOWARD to beginning work on the Phillip Noel Lockheed L1049 Super Constellation. At present I certainly have been pouring over any and all.the 88" Connie build threads out there ,that I can locate! Soon I shall check out the Laser cut wood pack for this build, better to find something needing to be fixed now than later and then having the build held up .So that being said I will get to that this week.

type motors to be used for 88" Lockheed L1049 Super Constellation
Hello.Larry, based on my experience with my 80" Douglas DC-6B build , at this juncture I would say : LEOPARD LC 2835-1038 KV brushless motors, controlled by MANTIS 35 A bec controllers, Using Ovonic 11.1V 2200mA LiPo s, one for the two inboard And one for the two out board motors. Thanks for your interest. As soon as the 80"Douglas DC-6 is completely done, I look forward to starting on my Connie build.

My 80" Douglas DC-6 Mainliner is now in the finishing stages, so before the ending of Summer I will be pulling out the 9 sheets of plans, the laser cut wood pack and getting going on this project, can not wait!!! I have been seriously considering purcashing a sheet of plate glass, just thick enough so as not to bend under its own weight and try framing the Lockheed L_1049 Super Constellation up in the same manner as Phil Noel and of course Dave Platt. So this framing job will see a LOT of Ca glue in use to get the airframe assembled. I'm CERTAINLY looking forward to this stage and MORE or less dreading All the planking that will follow; at least my 80" DC-6 gave me a thorough introduction to the art-- Attached is a shot of my 1:72 HELLER L-1049 kit I'm assembling and soon to paint as a reference for my Phillip Noel 88" Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation build.

Not building anything as my wife and I are packing our home for a move to Colorado in mid July, so anything I built would have to be packed. It's just absolutely mind boggling how much stuff you can accumulate in a home in 38 years!! And..I'm not even taking the lathe or mill shown in the 'My shop' tab at the bottom of the post or hardly any furniture, other than our bed that we had just bought a few months back.

Well with out any rush to it, My I 80" Douglas DC-6 B is getting finished up, being a learning build as it was My First fuselage planking job . My Sarik Hobbies Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation has afully plankwd fuselage and quite understI.dsble to Me considering Connie's compound and complex fuselage curvature. So a while back a got an old 1:72 scale HELLER 1049 TWA Super Constellationvoff of ebay, and have now built it and doing a "step" here and there getting it finished; It will be useful to Me as a good scale reference, dueing the build, which I'm surly looking forward to.

Well I'm preparing to start this project about now. With several build threads, including Phil Noels , I should be able to get a good informed start. The framing will go with ZAP Ca thin and Ca+ products ;the build surface is to be tempered glass 1/4_-1/2 thick with min. width 26" x 48" in length. I'm going to look for the (glass building surface) at my local Lowe's or Home Depot, So this is the page I'm now on, and really looking forward to the framing sequence.
