Build Log
LA5 FN 650mm 210g (1:15)
Hi guys!
I have already designed, printed and crashed two planes from PLA and PETG many times. Every unsuccessful landing ends in failure. I have to print for many hours. My EXTRA300 model without glue turned out to be very technological for replacing broken parts, but breakdowns still happen often. I decided to make the plane smaller and lighter. A 1:15 scale allows you to make planes with a flight weight of less than 250 grams. My first model on this scale is the LA5 FN. La-5 is a Soviet single-engine fighter created under the leadership of S. A. Lavochkin in 1942. The aircraft was a single-seat monoplane with a solid wood structure with retractable landing gear and a closed cockpit. The original name is LaGG-5. Two wings are made for this model. One completely made of foam, cut with a hot string, the other wing printed from PLA. In the first flight I used a lightweight foam wing, it weighs 35 grams along with a servo. |

First flight. An unsuccessful launch could fail for a heavier model, but this aircraft is immediately ready to restart. After trimming, the plane flies well and is controlled.

Mister Victor Bakharev,
I have the same guestion about the files. What are your plans? Are you going to post them somewhere? Here is why I am interested in your files: https://www.modelbouwforum.nl/thread....254273/page-5 As you can see,I am designing/printing the Lavochkin La-7! (together with Tim) Greetings:Robin |

I want more information, especially about where I can get the STL files. This small model looks like a lot of fun.
My other 3D printed airplanes are all too large, none of them are light, they all require intense attention to fly them successfully, and a crash like the one in the video would have resulted in a pile of scrap plastic. |

Thank you for your interest in my work. After some corrections, I plan to sell files and instructions.
I changed the battery load, now I do not need to remove the wing. I am going to make two design options. The first option will be with a wing and a stabilizer made of foam. This option is easier and more resistant to destruction. The second option will be fully printed from PLA. I have a 3D printer that prints 380mm along the Z axis, and therefore the design has only one joint, but for greater compatibility, I plan to make a maximum size of Z 200mm. This will require a little rework. |

made a design for Z = 200mm. In addition to the wings from the foam, I made wing files for the PLA. the fuselage consists of 4 parts and a wing of 3 +2 parts. |
