Should I sell my slash 4x4?
It's a OBA fox version I bought used for a good deal. After realizing the axles are made of plastic, I'm debating whether I should even keep it. Feel dissapointed ;-(

The slash is a solid truck. I put 2.2” tires on my 4x4 slash and never have broken any axles running 2s. They are fun trucks for sure.

It'll be fine. I dont own one but my friend has a brushless slash 4x4 and he beat on it for literally years before he broke an axle shaft.

If you plan to do light bashing, then I say keep it, but if you tend to make lots of tumbles or do jumps with big air, then I would resist the urge to fall into the trap of making upgrades. Traxxas is notorious for selling weak and dated designs which require you to spend a small fortune in upgrades to still have a dated design.
Yes, you can make the Slash somewhat acceptable after upgrades, but you will be far better off buying a race grade design which already includes most of the upgrades you need in the first place |

I finally sold it and made a huge profit on it :-D.
I think I will go for something Losi, Associated, Arrma, or heck even Redcat. Most of their models come with metal axles stock, and parts are cheap in my area. You guys got any reccomendations? ;-) |

Wise choice, Traxxas has been the most expensive brand I have ever maintained by a long shot! Of those brands you listed I would lean toward ARRMA, but if you're looking to build a race grade quality kit then I would highly recommend TEKNO, more info here: Which 1/10 4WD SCT is the best? |

Boy, do i feel relieved after selling it. Feels like someone lifted a big weight off my chest :-)
Today I had a look at the Arrma Kraton. It seems like it has a good following online, but if I want the metal axles I need the 6S version. I run a lot offroad, so that could be an awesome rig ;-) After looking around a little more, I stubled over the Redcat Caldera 10E. It's got some pretty good reviews on Amazon, and you sure can't beat that price of $250 ;-) |

OP, you do realize that the 6s Arrmas are going to require a whole lot more costs to get up and running. I’m assuming you are just getting into RC?
For a slash you would have needed a single 2s Lipo to get running. Now you need at least 2 2s lipos or a 4s. And that’s just 4s. Same for 6s, but 2 3s packs or a 6s pack. And I love how you sold a Traxxas Slash, which is one of the, if not THE, best selling truck of all time with unlimited options out for upgrades and spare parts. A Redcat is in the same league as a Traxxas, if not a step below simply because parts support isn’t the same. What are your intentions with a RC truck? Makes it easier to recommend stuff if you tell us a little more how you plan to drive. |

I agree with this statement... if you want to go up in quality without having to make any sacrifices, then consider the ARRMA Senton 3S as a step up from the Slash. It won't require nearly as many upgrades and will be far less expensive to maintain. If you think you want to go with the Senton 6S, then I would take a closer look at the TEKNO SCT410.3 where TEKNO will be the least expensive to maintain over the long run. |
