A check with SIGs website doesn't offer plans or manual. I know for a fact that they do not offer downloads.

Your only hope is that someone here will do you a favor. Or, you might want to call them directly and ask for the items. There will be a nominal fee, of course, if they can help.

Luck!!!

Several years ago, the Sig paper catalogue did in fact offer many of their plans and instruction booklets. Haven't seen a new one for about 4 years now.

Sig still sells the plan set... but its typical for a part of a kit to cost a lot more than what you'd expect.

If you order a 4*40 wing kit for example.. its a bit over 1/2 the full kit cost. The fuselage kit is also a bit over 1/2 full kit cost.. then you still need tailplanes and plans and the hardware that would have been in a full kit... You can end up paying the cost of 2 kits to get one complete one in the part-kit packages...

I can understand why... they have to split up full kits or else grab parts out of the full kit production line to make up a part kit. Its a hassle.

I've seen a fair number of these sights where the on-line catalogue only had part of the items that could be found in the same company's printed catalogues. I often have that problem trying to order components and materials on-line from industrial suppliers. Go through 8 or more web sites without having any luck. Look through the paper catalogue, if ones available, or telephone a real, not virtual person, and Voila', how many or how much do you want.

You can sell the copy that came in the kit you bought... you just can't go copying the plans/manuals and selling THOSE copies. You also can't even legally give away copies of the ones that were in the box.

You bought the ones that came in the box.

Most of the Model Railroad maazines have a diclaimer in their drawing pages that states you may make copies, enlargements, or reductions for your own private non-commercial use, which may be what the copyright laws also pretty much say.

another thing about copyrights.. they expire if not renewed. (notice a string of copyright dates in some books? thats why) A case of an expired copyright is the movie "Its a Wonderful Life" That movie would have been left in some vault somewhere and forgotten if the copyright had not expired.

Sig updates thier copyrights... but many of the plans published in the magazines never get the copyright updated. (but... its hard to check...)

*************

As for copying plans from a kit, (other thanfor your own use... just can't pass them out) its sort of like the issue of swapping crystal in transmitters.

Its not legal, but its done quite often. (not as often as the copying of MP3 files...) Its unlikely that you will be caught, but then, like the Mp3 file cases... you don't want to be the test case.

If all copying was illegal.. they'd have never made a Zerox machine.

Or was the Xerox a challenge to the illegality? As in, if I have a quality copy machine available to use privately, how much can I get away with?
