Mavic Mini controller with Ipad Mini 4?

@all (future) Mavic Mini owners,

Is there anyone that knows if the Mavic Mini contoller can hold the Ipad Mini 4 just like my DJI Spark controller?

I now use my Spark controller with a Ipad Mini 4 wifi only and sometimes the Iphone 6.

I hope that someone can tell me? Thanks in advance!

Greetings.

One more flight...

If it had the “follow me mode” and obstacle avoidance I’d be interested for my intended use.

The obstacle avoidance isn’t a deal breaker, but lack of the “follow me” mode means it won’t meet my targeted use. It seems like that would have been simple to keep in.

Will the DJI Mavic Mini force the FAA's hand, and prove the lie.?

IMO it's really only a matter of time before the FAA bans drones under 250g. Because it was never really about safety...it's about control. The FAA will be forced to show their true intentions as they do the bidding of corporate lobbyists. This DJI Mini has put the FAA (and their corporate overlords) in the uncomfortable position of showing their true intentions because from the beginning it never really was about safety

FAA...I hope you prove me wrong...

The mini is only exempt (for the moment) from registration. You still have to follow the regulations for flying a sUAS in the NAS.

This is not the issue, most understand this...

It's the..." for the moment" part that's the potential issue. As you know we were all told by the FAA that this was a safety issue and obviously (implied by their own previous statement) anything below 250g would NOT be a safety issue and thereby not need to be registered.

Only time will tell...but let's see if the FAA lied to the AMA, Hobbist Community and potentially wipes out the mini/micro drone hobby.

That is what is keeping me from buying DJI, not a technical guy but do they (DJI) have the software ability to lock out your drone you paid 400-500 dollars if the situation above arises??? Makes me wonder because then these would become bricks

I loved the Spark, not for its video which lacked, but for it's excellent stills with automatic panorama photo shots. I have taken those photo grid series, stitched them on a PC and created some stunning large posters of my area.

This new mini has better video, and the same still camera but with a glaring omission, no automatic panos! I'm not asking for in-model stitching, just shoot the series and put them in a folder on the SD card. This model should be capable of this, it's a perfect tiny platform with the range and duration to get great panoramic shots. We shouldn't have to do this manually. Hopefully they will add this, or release an SDK so Litchi could work on something.

I ordered one, but if the answer comes back a hard no, I may cancel my first DJI order.

DJI will never lock out due to laws change for weight. All the talk is that the sub 250g category that requires no registration could go, that has zero to do with DJI and IF that happened it would entirely be down to you to register with the FAA just like it is today with over 250g models.

This is zero to do with DJI and they will not get involved as they don’t now with anything to do with registration.

I believe Bruce is on to something here...

Will the DJI Mavic Mini drone kill sub-250g FPV? (8 min 18 sec)

Many companies have that ability, it's called firmware updates. Don't connect to internet(Not you...your Drone and systems)...don't update firmware and fly it till the motors die years later. !!

I wouldn't worry about it, that's not going to happen any time soon.

Regardless of regs, the sub 250g class models are great in that the craft mass is low enough to be almost harmless to people and property, and that is a real good thing.

But, you can still put an eye out
