Cirrus AutoLand Technology

My 27 year old son works for Cirrus Aircraft up in Duluth, MN.

They just publicly announced a panic autoland technology. Kinda similar to what DJI does for their drones, I assume...
Or Spektrum SAFE?

Wow, pretty cool. Caught in IMC without adequate instrument-flying skills? Just punch that big red button.

It should be a manditory retrofit to all aircraft possessing electrical systems. Something similar (SAFE/ autoland) should be manditory for all rc aircraft as well.

In the meantime, here's an idea. If a non-IFR-rated pilot is caught in clouds, he can have an rc plane with SAFE and autoland in the cockpit. Just watch which way the control surfaces deflect, and copy that with the yoke. Problem solved!

Actually a simpler solution is to use a gimballed camera-- just do whatever it takes to keep the camera upright-- doesn't address the return-to-home / autoland issue though.
