The Connie is a beauty all right, but one of Hughes' other designs is my favorite, the world speed record H1 plane. Check out those sleek lines, not bad for a 1930's design.

Look at that bottom profile, I've been tempted to make it into a pusher canard, of course I'd have to move the rudder up to the "front".

Gene... You did a great job on the C47. I am building one now. I don't get on here much but follow the builds every day. I would like you or someone to consider a C 130 or 160 FF build. I think it would generate a lot of interest. Please!!! Joe

C-47...now comes the tough part ... cannibalizing a radio from something else ... Never enough radios!!!!

Just gotta find the right power system. I'll be darned if I'm going to put 4 x $10 worth of brushed motors on one! Maybe if I can find a lower Kv 250 or 260 motor laying around in surplus somewhere I hate to use 4 280's, and 4 IPS's is out of the question... I'm too cheap!

One thing at a time. I'm scheming away on the Sorta Stealth Sport right now... It is a bomber, after all

Then maybe a C-130

Dropping a tank out of the back end, talk about your major trim changes! Wonder how many clicks that took...

How I spent my Saturday morning ....

The weather was clear and calm ( for a change ) , I got to the field at daybreak (06:15).. there was a light ground fog over the grass .... Got the C-47/DC-3 ready , oiled the motors , checked the surfaces and props for proper movements /operation ... the motors didn't sound quite as HOT as the j250's we've been using , but being a believer , we tossed it ..... Wow!!! it has more power / speed than I realized ... very fast non scale flying ,but FUN .... while fumbling around , I accidentally touched that stick on the left and somehow reduced the power ...Boy does this thing fly slow and look exactly like a "Goonie " in the air ... Way Way COOL!!!! and very relaxing !!! I'm glad I chose to follow the REM controls suggested by Genebond, simple and work great ... even managed a few loops (more non -scale )... This is a FUN plane , and would probaby be a really good introduction to twins if built as presented ...Thanks Gene, another "WINNER"!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad it worked, Glen. Pretty surprising how little power it takes to fly, huh? and quiet, too!

Touch and goes are great fun as well.

sheba: I haven't looked at the C-160, Is it the european version of the C-130 with 2 motors? Seems like I saw someone mention it.

C-130 study: I found a suitable surplus motor How's about 4 x $1.50 for the power plant... Oh, yea, props, too Looks like 3x2 props. Darn, I was hoping for 4 or 5", but I'm going to look at something else here, before I pin it down and start drawing. I think Ideally, I'd like to see 6-8a total current, on 2s. I like that power range as far as batteries go. It would probably work fine with some old Li-Ions in parallel Heck, with as much wing as these have, the weight won't make that much difference. The only real concern will be wing bracing. That's more a problem due to the 4% chamber I love...

Search for a C160 Transall I found some great pictures of a German air Force C160 flying at an airshow. Joe
