what is not up for debate is the fact that all passenger flights are grounded...

6 months to finish a rtf

This isn't the first American made Aircraft that flew with a major defect "A FATAL DEFECT" That the F AA knew and allowed it to keep flying
knowing that the Fatal flaw could bring down a airliner with up 350 people on board.
I'm talking about the DC -10 Just 3 months after it entered service it was found that the cargo door could open in flight and cause the
cabin floor to collapse causing all 3 hydraulic control systems to fail leaving the Aircraft uncontrollable.
to save weight and money they ran all 3 systems together and this lead to 3 major accidents in which 3 DC-10s crashed out of control
killing over 500 people even after discovering the fatal flaw as soon as it when in to service - not only did they allow MD to keep building
these the control problem was never corrected. They should have been grounded But as fixing the problem would have meant completely
rebuilding every DC-10 but that would have put McDonald Douglas out of business.
There is a Book "The Last Nine Minutes: The Story of Flight 981 by Moira Johnson" which tells the story Including that MD knew that the
Aircraft had this fatal flaw while it was in development but chose not to fix it. The FAA was aware that this could happen and allowed it
to keep flying with People on board.

Thread topics will always understandably wane when the product is not yet in hand... All good (IMO) As long as it is aircraft ..

This had the side effect of changing the plane's pitching characteristics. MCAS was a software band-aid for an aerodynamic problem, and because they were confident in its invisibility they never bothered to train the pilots on it, or even acknowledge that it was there. The fact that the FAA allowed Boeing to self-police didn't help matters.

Corporate cost-cutting and regulatory shamming - nothing new in that.

The aforementioned news: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...as/4024504002/

Sounds a lot like what will probably become of something closer to home which had the leaning cranes imploded this afternoon.

I find it distasteful to joke about something that has killed so many people.
Would it be funny to joke about 911?

Hang it over the bed!
Your wife might just want to get into the hobby as well.
Or perhaps not.
Best to hide it under the bed...
