Next On The Water Vid uploading as I type.
Give it an hour.

Not sure what happened here.
Possibly I cracked something during transport.

Basically it will be easy to repair and to reinforce.
Then Ican get back to why mine has a yaw issue.

Just arrived back into Brisbane Bob, watched the video .. what happened ? Why did it go in ?

Maybe I should double up the tail area

So the natives did NOT get you in New guinea !

I think that vertical needs to be Doubled up..

And as weird as this idea is ,
I think it needs a Larger Fin ON TOP of the Hstab too.
Something has to correct that yaw tendency.

I have the motor offset already, so let see how it go's after repairs and reinforcements.

Have fun in Adelaide

All good Bob, head hunters didn't get us lol

Back home now so will get into some serious building and flying think I might rework the plans and build the 980 WS version .. just cos I can

By the way, how do you think a KFm airfoil would go on it ?

HERE'S MY 2 CENTS ...

On my build I ONLY used CF "Blades" not tubes.

I see no problems with the Span-wise Strength so far.
Not even after that admittedly low impact crash.

That said , I noticed "some" wing wiggle on a couple of my low passes,
which could merely be some flutter induced by the tip floats.

I have been considering adding a set of tip float material to the TOP SIDE
to achieve some symmetry out there and possibly eliminate the flutter.
Bullet shaped wingtips have been used on many aircraft.
Alternately, we could try adding streamlining material at the TE side of what is already there

So, I conclude that a moderate thickening of the wing could not hurt our effort.

Recall that mine is also the Largest of the Viking mob.
I doubt if the smaller ones will benefit.

This one is a copy of the E-Flight Commander and it flies really good, so good I am going to design my version of the E-Flite Timber X STOL as a friend of mine has this one too and it flies great

Venom x gets better each time I fly her (8 min 15 sec)

I decided to make the 990 version a Swept wing so there will be 2 versions now .. a Swept Wing and a Delta Wing .. Delta is 850mm and Swept is 990mm Fuselage and CG etc will remain the same

I will be making the Swept wing version

Ready to maiden .. it seems to have oodles of power with this motor/prop combination

Specs:

6mm Depron: 2 sheets (1000 x 700mm)
Motor: Turnigy D2836/8 1100KV
Prop:9 x 6
ESC: Plush 30A
Servos: 3 x 9gram
Battery: 2200/3s
All up weight: 774 grams

Last pic show position of battery for correct CG

Time it took to build (after all parts were cut out) about 10 hours .. so anyone building this would easily build in a weekend

I haven't fitted the KFm airfoils as I want to fly it without first then I will try it with and see what (if any) is the difference

I think the prop wash is pushing the FIN left resulting in the Right yaw.
It's the same thing that I get with my Viking.

take it up high and shut down the prop.
See if it glides nice and straight. It should

It's just a big delta Vulcan with a lot of Barn doors attached off the rear end.
So, I'm blaming the attachments.

Who could have foreseen this dilemma. arrrrggghhhh

But the Vixen flew OK and had the same tail setup .. do you remember the Ladybird .. this was a great flier but had a few ground issues .. same tail and flew fantastic except it was a swept wing and not a delta

Ladybird shown on the right in the picture .. and it was a proper airfoil wing too
