iRangeX irx4 (original version) magic improvement
subtitled "how to flash additional protocols to the irx4 (first version) using a simple usb link to the taranis x9d+"
okay, it's not actually magic, it's flashing new and clever firmware to allow additional protocols to be added to the multimodule using the same plain usb cable that you use to connect to openTx companion, rendering the usb cp2012 breakout and wiring to an opened multimodule redundant trust me, you'll believe it is magic once you've done the upgrade my considerable gratitude to pascal (hpnuts) and ben (benzo99) for their assistance in guiding me through a significant simplification in the process to upgrade the irx4 module (that's it in the picture in the post below this) realistically, all you need is here : https://github.com/pascallanger/DIY-...iling_STM32.md anything else is linked conveniently from that link the latest upgrade binaries are at https://github.com/pascallanger/DIY-...odule/releases since i did it from scratch well over a year (or maybe two) ago, there has been a release of the "flash multi" app that makes it way simpler the only bits you will need are :
and the phillips head screwdriver to undo the irx4 oh, and if you don't have one, the iRangeX irx4 module - go on, use my affiliate link and make me filthy rich (i wish) follow the recipe and after the initial flashing, it seems you have to manually connect the usb link one more time to encourage the onboard flashing app to configure correctly, and you're done per pascal and benzo in the posts on my attempt (here and subsequent, for your review) : https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...0#post42722947 the only bit that stalled me was fixed by doing what they said : flash the module one time using that same file and Flash Multi and you'll have the bootloader installed and will be able to do future updates from the radio but after that all was good using this technique : start the tx in boot mode (cross-eyed trim switches as you power up), then : run app > flashmulti_x9dp.app > update (inv com port NO) > choose the latest binary > flash multi from .... > wait ..... bingo ! if you can solder small stuff, and can follow not-too-complex instructions which are well presented, you will not regret the effort |

Reason: update flashing technique to aid future use (going senile)
