I prefer smaller ornithopters. And love swifts. Looks pretty cool. Kudos!

thanks DaVinciBrainchilt and rockedsled finally there's few vids

maidenflight of common swift ornithopter. stays aloft only short. what to do guys? also control needs to be more and more accurate, overall seems to lack power, though motor is strong enough/maybe to heavy
apusapus ornithopter maidenflight (2 min 43 sec)

then maybe use emergency blanket mylar for wings then ripstop.. either other motor/gears either increase of amplitude could do good.

there's the maiden flight of red kite, i think it cannot fly in wind how it is atm

please excuse bad footage, video shows mostly my shadow

RedKite ornithopter Maidenflight (3 min 33 sec)

control is also an issue, responsiveness is not very stable and more difficult than i hoped, anyway its fun have a bird with more power finally ^^

I think your Swift is too scale. Needs more wing.

Both look very realistic in flight. But the RedKite looks awesome.

thanks man. i tried stick close to nature size and shape as possible using simple technique
probably you're right about wing area, but bigger then it will be another species, but on the other hand it would allow also for bigger battery... hum

I think the size is awesome. If it were me I would try to drop a little weight and make the tail bigger.

i disassembled the swift and replacing 3000kv motor for 8000kv also adding a bit more reduction, real swifts also flapp lil bit faster i think, hopefully motor can keep up, 3000kv already had starting difficulties...

Other test flights with red kite, footage is a bit better but again sometimes flying out of view. Also roll stability is an issue, probably because wings are going downwards as much as upwards? Gonna try stabilisator, also painting

RedKite testflights 24.01.2020 (17 min 59 sec)

Kites are the most buoyant of the raptors, and your kite does have that look to its flight. Kudos!

thanks brainchild, that means a lot esp. from a wildlife expert, i adore fervour and that nature is full of it. (also its a pity the wing are not fully extended anymore due to error some repairing)

You seem to work pretty fast, I'm sure you can remake the wings to your liking.

There you go, plan in more high resolution. see also posted pictures. Carbon plate used is 1mm, and 1.5mm for shoulder base. For Wing i used 3mm as main spar,2.5 diagonal spar, the rest are 2.5, 2, 1.8, 1.5, 1.2 and 1mm, for tail i also used carbon strips of 0.3-0.6mm. but make it a bit stronger if you want to crash it without crashing it (:
