Jetfan 80 on 8S-9S-10S HET 700-68-1400kv


Anyone know what kind of amps this would draw? I'm using a 90amp ESC and would like to limit amps to 90 max. I'm guessing 9S should be close maybe 85amps?

Lipo will be a Turnigy Graphene 45C

I agree that is the ballpark but I am basing that on the 1865kv motor on 8s. Even on 7s the 1865 would be over 100A. Be sure the controller can handle the high voltage. I have a castle 130A controller but only good to 8S for my 1865 motor.

JFís testing shows the 700-68-1400kv to be 88a on 10s. Didnít look any deeper - you can do that.

Their fan charts are decently representative of real-world results.

Thanks I think that chart may be reading a bit low.
It shows the 1738kv on 8S at only 89amps. I had that setup, if memory serves it was in the 100-105A range.

Edit: probably comparing bench vs. Installed, looks like amp are 10-15% higher installed.

Definitely. The charts are never in-airframe. Once in a real airframe, their are ducting losses and current shoot up 10-15% as mentioned.

A 100 A controller might work...Castle's have some head room...so I would run a Castle 100A even if peak amps at WOT is 102A. But I don't think
my Castle 100 is good for more than 8S.

I'm using a YGE 90 HV

Will try on 9S. Hopefully that will be safe. Probably can't support more weight anyway as I'm right at 1KG in lipos.

Well flew it tonight. Not as fast as a 1738kv on 8S, but not much slower either.

Amp draw on 95% full lipo's was a suprisingly low 71amps Flew 4mins with only 3300mah in lipos (9 cell)

This is a nice efficient setup, easy on the lipos, motor, ESC etc. 10-11S is also an option.

Yes, i test fit a 10S 4000mah 45C pack.

It fits, just barely. 1.2KG but I believe the airframe can handle it. on 9S ~2300watts it was doing 125-135mph.

10S should be 145mph+ at a still very reasonable ~85amps

Ok on 10S i saw 87amps peak but at 3300watts!

2 X 5S 4000mah 45C Turnigy Graphene .

Should be properly ballistic now, will test fly in the next couple days.

Going pretty good in your video - it is sure to keep your interest in it when flying. And if you do decide to give 10s a turn, please tell your cameraman to keep the zoom off for the recording.....itís gonna get a bunch harder to keep track of.
