I found they seem ok with a brg engine, the non brg engine like that Norvel will wear fast on the front end. better to not do the heavy nut thing on non brg engines .. just my opinion.

The wing has options for several servo sizes. I decided to go with a standard size servo.

I am planning to go with the markings of a Zero that flew aboard the Hiryu (aircraft carrier) that participated in Pearl Harbor.

I think the blue bands will help visibility, and develop my skills for future projects. They will also be monokote.

Going to hand launch this crawf? Have a mechanical launcher? Whats your weight looking like so far? Wish they still made the Pica war birds.

I am planning to hand launch. There were some slots in the wing for landing gear, but they were not included.

When I get the model flight-ready, I will get a weight.

Next comes the fuel tank. And I see no easy solutions.....

There is no arrangement for a removeable "hood" on the front of the model (where I could access the fuel tank to fill it up).

All I can figure is a 3-line setup:
Line 1 - Clunk, connected to engine carburetor.
Line 2 - Clunk, running to fill line. This allows the tank to be filled and drained. This will connect to a fuel dot.
Line 3 - Exhaust (top of tank). Pressurizes tank, and acts as Overfill, allowing excess fuel to run out muffler.

When the cowl is in place, I will not be able to access Lines 1 & 3. Hope this works....it does on my 1/4 scale birds.

Very interested in this build/ restoration. I have a 3/4 built kit that I started when I was 18. (20 years ago). I got it out this fall and have been tinkering with it. it is the kit version and I started building it for a .25 gas, but have decided to put a .10 rimfire electric in it. I finished assembly of the major components and ripped off the monokote that was on the fuse from when I started it. I am going to build it with 3 channel and belly land it. I actually put wing fillets on it a month ago to make it a little more scale and am going to put the upper gun tunnels on the fuse behind the cowl. I wish I knew then what I know now.

Those Zeros look sexy! Appreciate you guys sharing your builds. I'm out of 1/2A forum engines to do build threads with till I mangle something. Of course I would build a WWII fighter of some 1/2A sort if I had a spare engine!!!! Guess I'm going to have to catch up on my larger stuff. Would rather 1/2A though......
