This Old 1/12 A6M Zero [Pica]

This story starts in a storage bin. A guy in my club was called about a delinquent storage rental....that was full of RC airplanes. And a lot of the subjects were SCALE.

One of the models I acquired was a 1/12th scale (37" ws) A6M Zero.

Here is a little better look at the Zero.

A few more details. I found some instructions. But these were for construction of the A6M Zero; what I have looks more like an ARF. Or ARC. Or Almost Ready to Paint.

Big white sheet would have helped curb some of that pesky dust.
That Zero looks great going to fly it again with a .15?

I originally saw the model, and thought, "sand off the grey primer, and go with Monokote plastic covering." Then I thought that was just too much work.

More looks at the wing. There is a place for landing gear on bottom, but I plan to leave it off; all the runways in my region are grass.

Nice flat area for the cowl and engine mount.

Yup, 1/2A Nut: a .15 is the plan. Seems like I saw somewhere that it uses a .15 glow.

Nice find..I have a few of the Pica 1/12 kits ...2 Zeros ..Some one started building them and I picked them up for a deal...I think they were .25 power for combat.

When someone abandons stuff in a rental storage building, they are rarely worried about dust.

Looks like a nice find!

Tried some automotive paints. Wasn't happy. Decided to go back to what I know: monokote.

Great to see you move forward with this plane. It certainly played a very crucial role for the Axis powers during the war. Sleek and graceful shaped plane. I have to build one some day.
